1) Don’t take care of yourself. It’s easier to let yourself go and not bother to consider your own well being. Truth be known, it’s not hard to take care of yourself, even if you have to start with baby steps. If you are sick, see a doctor. If you are in financial trouble, see a financial counselor. If you are having trouble coping, make an appointment with a counselor. It’s time to opt for some healthier choices, get some exercise and take care of your body.
2) Don’t give yourself time to work through things. Be super hard on yourself, because aren’t results supposed to be immediate? Thankfully, things work themselves out most of the time. Often, if we will be patient with ourselves and others and maintain an element of optimism, life has a way of changing things once again. Don’t be too quick to make a change; wait for awhile and see if it doesn’t take care of itself.
3) Ignore your stress. Isn’t stress a normal part of life? Most people endure way too much stress in their lives. It’s so unnecessary. Find simple things to help yourself when you are stressed. Some people find that they can relax better after a weekly massage or warm bath. Others keep a journal or pray. Still others find that a brisk walk will help them reduce stress. Try various techniques until you find one that works for you. You might need to walk away from some relationships or make some changes, but that’s okay too.
4) Get the cheapest office furniture available. Isn’t all office furniture basically the same? Reseach has proven, however, that you perform better and feel better when you are more comfortable. You should consider investing in some ergonomic equipment to help relieve everyday stress. An ergonomic chair will allow you to adjust your arms, back and legs to a comfortable fit, reducing stress at your desk. You will find that height adjustable computer desks will allow you to actually be able to reach things without bending and twisting.
5) Have a negative mindset. This is easy when we are unhappy with our jobs. However, it’s worth working on being more positive. It is a fact that when we decide to have a better attitude, things seem to go better. Make up your mind to think the best about where you are. Be thankful for your job and take one day at a time.
6) Expect alot of yourself. You probably don’t work hard enough, so be sure to over-do it and never give yourself a break. On the other hand, why do we think that we are going to get it all done if we work harder and any ourselves a vacation or break? Nothing can be gained from working yourself to death. If you will take the time to enjoy life, you will be a more productive worker who is happier and healthier. Find a hobby, exercise or activity that you enjoy that relaxes you and start fitting it into your schedule.
7) Don’t help anyone else. If you are having a bad time, then by all means, shouldn’t you take it out on other people? No, because it is a proven fact that when you reach out to other people, it is beneficial to you as well. Taking the time to be think of someone else makes our own troubles seem small. Being irritated, harsh and annoyed will only add to your anxiety and make your life more complicated.
Continue to live in the fog. So many people live by their emotions, rather than taking the time to figure out why they are having a rough time. Sit down and figure it out by writing down some pros and cons about your present circumstances. You may be amazed at what you might learn. If that doesn’t work, then see a professional counselor who can help you work through things.
9) Put things off until the last minute. Why bother to do work ahead of time when it’s not urgent? So many people get loaded down with their work because they keep putting things off until the last minute. Start on deadlines right away rather than procrastinating. Start as soon as possible so you can get it done, put it behind you and move on to something that you like.
10) Above all else, don’t follow this list. Why would anyone think that they can tell you how to live your life? The fact is, we all have areas that need improvement. Your work is important and you deserve to get the most enjoyment out of what you do. Obviously, not every day is going to be great. However, by NOT following these simple steps, you will be stepping out of the doldrums and making a better way for yourself.
