FOREVER LATE. MY DEAR SPOUSE IS AGAIN LATE FOR OUR APPOINTMENT. I am at our designated waiting area, the front of the supermarker, waiting patiently for my wife. We have agreed to meet at four o’clock in the afternoon. It is now way past the appointed time. It’s been like this ever since she gave birth to our youngest. To pass away the time, I got one of the free baby magazine and started reading. I have to agree that the baby magazines are very informative. Reading almost to the end of the magazine, I came upon a free baby items advertisement. I asked myself if this is true. I really have doubts when it comes to things being gven away free. Unbelievable as it maybe, I still filled up the application form. I saw the drop box and promptly drop my application in it. Then that’s it. Never thought about it anymore. I never expected something to come out of it. Anything to pass away the time. My wife’s endless chatter, all the more, made me forget all about it. Did not even had the chance to tell her.
As it happens, the days went by very slowly. Slowly, I say, because our budget is stretched to the limit. There are a lot of things to buy, specially for the new baby. As usual, my wife was unreasonable this morning, telling me that the milk is almost empty. I am thinking who among my officemates can I borrow money. I jumped when my phone rang. I’m sure this is my wife, reminding me about the milk. As I lift the receiver, I dread hearing her voice. Lo and behold, my wife is very sweet on the phone. I was totally taken aback. What happened? As it turned out my subscription for the free baby items arrived. It contains a lot of things we need for the baby. And the most important of it all, it includes a sizeable pack of babies milk. The pack is good enough to last until payday. Perfect timing, I could say so myself. My wife was lovey-doving me for not telling her all about the free baby items. She almost drove the delivery man away. A pesky salesman, that’s who she thinks he was. What made her stop was the pack of milk that is showing through the other baby stuff. Not only do we have milk, but a lot of free baby items my baby really needs. Truly, some of the best things in life are free!
