When my wife and I decided to have ceiling insulation installed in our home we did it for a number of reasons but there’s one benefit of acquiring it which we were not conscious of prior to having it put in. Allow me to clarify: we have a teenage son who aspires to become a drummer with a rock band when he goes to university. Now, I’m conscious that many adolescent males have an attraction to noise-makers of any type from dirt bikes with the bafflers removed to musical instruments attached to speakers but my boy is in fact quite a good drummer. He takes his drumming instruction seriously and already has a recreational ‘garage band’ on the go with his pals. Regrettably, they don’t actually have a garage to practise in hence they make use of our games room adjacent to our home. I’ve permitted my youngster and his two buddies to utilize the games area because we live on a plot which means the neighbours aren’t troubled by the sounds they produce but the problem is, they used to bother my better half and I. The contractor mentioned that noise causes the walls to vibrate and that wall insulation could go a long way to deadening the sound. After a quick chat, my wife and I agreed that having the walls insulated might end up being worth the extra cost as our kid’s musical endeavours were starting to get us down. And what a wise decision that was! We no longer need to turn the television audio right up to filter out the disturbance or even tell him to disconnect the sub from his drumkit.
