Collecting Models is something that a lot of people used to do back in the day but you do not tend to see it a lot nowadays, or do you?
The bug model collectors of course still do it and funnily enough the biggest model collectors in the world are not actually individual people but organisations like museums that want to purchase the piece to go along with an exhibit that they have within the place. You will find that going to museums actually prove to show this as there are models all over the place. Of course like I have said before, people do collect them for their own means and purposes.
I have found that the reason why a lot of people are not doing this kind of thing nowadays is down to the media, they make things like this sound like it is a really geeky thing to do and this is just not the case. If you are passionate about something then how on earth is it geeky, I suppose sport could be geeky then?
A lot of kids grow up nowadays without actually experiencing what it is like to build model kits with their families and as soon as they are old enough they seem to get straight into playing video games. Whilst I love my video games I just feel there is a lot more depth and fun to be had in building RC models with the family than playing games by your lonesome.
I remember when I was younger messing about with my dad by flying around those RC helicopters and it really was a bit of a laugh.
The thing that I would do is to encourage your children to start using things like this because they are in fact very important indeed to building up the mind, collecting models especially RC tanks because they are awesome!
